Rhubarb marmalade

I’ve found two recipes for rhubarb marmalade, if the word “French” is in the name I always think it sound yummy. But what do I use the marmalade for? Does anyone have a recipe for some scones or similar, something one can eat along with a cup of tea?

(I’ll share my recipes after I make them in case they suck I won’t waste anyone’s times)

Neighbors, everybody needs good neighbors…

(Yes, that show made it all the way to Sweden) If you could pick your neighbors, what a joy! Who would you pick and why? There are six houses beside mine on our little street and here are my neighbors if I could pick them.

1. Oscar Wilde. There is some view into this house but hopefully not that much (they haven’t moved in) but I can picture Oscar living there and I would spot him sitting in a chair in front of the fire when I make tea (from the kitchen I can see straight into what probably is the living room). I would wave and he would raise his cup or glass, maybe wave me over for some tea or a brandy.

2. Who do I want to stare at all times? Johnny Depp or maybe Dita von Teese but then I would stare at them all the time and they wouldn’t like me so… maybe Batman/Bruce Wayne? He would never live there because it’s too small but let’s say he would. I’m sure he would come up with something clever to avoid the whole situation with the view straight into each other’s houses and I’m sure I would like Alfred. (Bet Oscar would love if Robin moved in next door.)

3. Beatrix Potter. I’m sure she would take good care of the yard and make it nice for birds and other animals and I’d ask her for help with building birdhouses ect. She doesn't seem to be hard to live close to, a very nice and calm person. (I base this on the movie I saw, could be a bitch but I doubt it.)

4. Hmm… can’t come up with anyone at the time, let’s pretend it’s vacant for now. Any idea’s who could move in there?

5. The Bennets of course. Mrs Bennet seems like fun and she would fill me in on all the gossip, especially if they live next to Oscar Wilde and Batman. I love Elizabeth and Jane and hopefully we would be friends and take walks across the neighborhood.

6. Miss Marple maybe… a nice lady and she would like the place I’m sure. I think she would be a wonderful neighbor and I can picture myself stopping and chatting a little when I take the dog out, and he would like her too since he loves little old ladies.

Imagine the tea parties with the neighbors! I want these neighbors! I'll pretend they live here... imaginary friends, that sounds healthy.

Time Flies…

When I look at the stuff I wrote in the beginning… let’s just say that I’ve changed a bit (what was I thinking? No taste what so ever). When I first started out writing here it was supposed to be about tea but that doesn’t happen very often so I’ll try to do it more because tea is wonderful.

Right now I’m having the famous “Söderblandning” from the store where it all happened, “The Tea Centre of Stockholm”. I remember reading somewhere that Vernon (the creator) doesn’t like the blend himself, I find that funny, like writing a bestseller and not liking it. Anyway, my first visit at “The Tea Centre of Stockholm” and they had these super cute tins with the store on them. I had to buy them! Six different teas for 299kr which means that each tin cost almost 50kr which I would have paid just for the tin.

But it’s small things like that that makes people buy perhaps more tea than they intended (aka good for business). It can’t cost that much to make these tins and they are so cute! The store smelled of tea when I stepped inside and it was pretty dark and almost gloomy because they have this old fashion vibe going on which is one of the reasons they only accepts cash which is silly because they have plastic bags and carpets with rubber on it so… Cozy but the lack of light almost made me a little depressed. There was a candle or two lit but that was it. I don’t think some proper lights and accepting credit cards would hurt the business.

It’s supposed to be wild strawberry but it smells like stale beer, like the day after a party, ew…

Nice place for a cup of tea!

This looks ideal for tea! Well, I would remove the carpet and perhaps not have a white sofa but still, oh and a little stove to keep warm. Pretty! I want it!! More pictures here.

I was just goofing around and writing down an imaginary tea party with Aimée and it turned in to a story. First draft ready and I’ll clean it up this weekend and maybe I have a story for my story bank. I have to wait awhile and see if I really like it, sometimes a story seem good but when you’ve let it cold a day or so it turns out to be crap.

Treehouse

I don’t know why but I like small houses like shed and little cottages (like the one in that movie “The Holliday”) and treehouses. But even if I start looking for a treehouse in the area to have tea in, I have no one to keep me company. (I wonder if I could persuade my dad to build me a treehouse even though I’m not twelve?)

10 Places for tea

You can have tea anywhere but some places sounds more interesting than others. The best place I have had tea is sadly my own garden. I hope I’ll be crossing off some of the places on the list real soon. The most important thing when having tea is, of course, good company.

Thursday

Today we, J and I went birthday shopping for B and a little for me.

Keep your fingers crossed. So I bought the nighty but for some reason I didn’t try it when I was trying on some of the bras (none of them were good, which is good for my economy)… So, now at home I will try it and it better fit because you can’t return underwear. I hope it fits… It fits! It fits nicely without clinging to my jelly parts, so cozy! You should feel the material, oh and I got the cozy angora socks and some tea with almond, apple, cinnamon which was really nice (but I think you need a little sugar in it and I don’t have sugar in my tea), will be perfect along with all the books I got at the library ( I did not like the new library but at least there were no kids there playing video games, but it was way too loud). Got two books with short stories in them and hoping for some inspiration, so far I get very little of what Virginia Woolf is trying to tell me. Only read two of her stories The mark on the wall is one of them.

Tired… want to put on my nightie some socks and just go to bed.

Imaginary Tea Party…

If you had a tea party for five and could invite whoever you want, dead or alive, fictional or real life person who would it be? I’m think Sherlock Holmes and the lovely Ms Marple, I’m sure they would get along and it would probably be fun to listen in on their conversation. I guess Dr Watson could come along as well but then there are two empty seats left. I would invite Fred and George Weasley but I don’t think they would like that sort of thing, sitting still, talking and having tea isn’t their style. Maybe I’m in some sort of crime fighting mood because Poirot seems like a delight to have at a tea party. Last seat at the table… Indiana Jones wouldn’t like it, neither would James Bond. Oh, I think I’ll invite Sir Ian McKellen, or Vincent Price… Hm, I think I’ll go with Ian, he seems more easy going than Vincent.

Interesting, all my guests but one is fictional, what does that say about me?

Only problem is, all of these people seem very smart, well-spoken and have interesting ideas about all sorts of things and then there in the middle, me!?

Famous Tea Parties

People don’t have tea parties anymore do they? I have never been invited to a tea party and I have never ever heard of anyone that has. Never heard of anything like that, getting invited for coffee sure but that’s not a tea party. Why not? Sound like fun. People have tex mex parties, plain old dinners, sex and the city evenings but no tea parties? Strange…

Boston Tea Party, not an actually tea party but still… Why destroy all that tea? I would have taken it and have an actually tea party, that would have been nice, invite EVERYONE and have tea and talk about it instead.

Who wants tea?

I have a few flavored black teas that I don’t like and will never drink so… Elderberry, apple and one called Himalaya, not really sure what’s in it but some kind of fruit.

New teacups

I got these for Christmas, love the décor but I wish they were bigger and a little nicer design but, I still think they are just adorable. Taika from Iittala. The blue one might be nicer...

Can you say pavlova?

I can’t but I sure ate A LOT of it, yummy! But next time I will do mini pavlovas or I’ll weigh a tone before Christmas… I throw some chocolate chip and cocoa in to the meringue mix and had plumes, raspberries and passion on top, nice, wanted blueberries but you can’t have it all can you. Easy to make and it was fun. Served with raspberry tea.

Doughnuts doesn’t have to be round

Tried to make doughnuts a few weeks ago, I was sure it was hard but in fact it was easy (or maybe I had a good recipe?) and SO good. A hot doughnut along with your tea is divine! But it hit me that they don’t have to be round, do they? So I took some cookie cutters and tadah! Heart shaped and star shaped doughnuts! I love them, they are so cute!

Nirvana garden "chair"

This is sort of ugly but I can’t help to think that it would be pretty damn cozy being all curled in inside that thing with a cup of tea, maybe having it out in the rain isn’t such a good thing though? But tea, a friend and some juice gossip and it would be a great evening in my opinion. What do you think?
